BASIC JOB FUNCTION:

The Lab Supervisor will oversee the Food Safety and Quality Systems for the Clover Food Additives Lab Monitor the site for compliance and identify areas for continuous improvement.  Utilize current training programs and develop new programs that ensure the site understands the requirements to maintain our certifications.  Be the key contact for audits and update all certifications as defined by the standards. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Senior Quality Manager in the growth and development of the staff
  • Collect feedback from the staff and implementing ideas that will enhance the Food Safety at the site
  • Responsible for Clover Food Safety and Quality Systems.
  •  initiate action to resolve any reports of Food Safety or Quality problems
  • SQF Practitioner
  • Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the Food Safety and Quality Systems - specifically the SQF system
  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF system
  • Comply with SOPs, cGMPs and safety programs
  • Perform HACCP and Food Defense tasks as needed
  • Assist with completing regulatory information requests as needed
  • Other duties as may be assigned

SKILLS / ABILITIES: 

  • Strong observation and interpretation skills
  • Strong computer skills (SAP knowledge preferred but not required)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to compare data, detect inconsistencies, and determine actions for resolution
  • Strong verbal, written communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to effectively and positively interact with supervisor, peers, and across functions
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple work deadlines

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related field
  • 5+ years of experience of a combination of people leadership and working in a lab environment
  • Experience in microbiological testing in the food industry preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and maintaining GFSI and / or ISO 9001 standards
  • Proven food safety expertise in a manufacturing environment
  • SQF Certified Practitioner credential strongly preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work an eight (8) hour shift in a lab / production environment.
  • Will be required to use computer daily to effectively complete job functions for entire shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Manufacturing and warehousing facility for food grade products. Company operates under a HACCP plan and cGMPs
